ASVI Session One
5th February 2022 ASVI is back to commence season three of Amplify Sickle Cell Voices Webinar Series. For session one 2022, we go back to the basics and bring you an Introduction to Sickle Cell Disease and Sickle Cell Trait. We have Healthcare Professionals presenting as well as sickle cell warriors and caregivers.
In 2022, over 100 years since Sickle Cell Disease was discovered in an American Lab, we are still facing health disparities around the world. Most people impacted by this condition are still missing the basic medications to manage their symptoms and complications.
The Bone Marrow Transplant which is the curative option is either too expensive for most or the majority will not have matched donors. For some, it’s too late to consider this curative option because of the risks associated with it.
