


ASVI Webinar Series Part Three Session Eight took place on Saturday 26th March 7am EST, the session’s topic was on Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism in Sickle Cell Disorder.The session was hosted by Agnes, and was opened by the Chairperson Zakareya, who welcomed everyone and briefly explained ASVI’S role in helping the sickle cell community in terms of educating and inspiring sickle cell warriors Globally.
After a brief introduction from Agnes, Dr John Strouse an adult and pediatric Haematologist from the USA shared his presentation on Venous thromboembolism and Pulmonary Embolism. It was a very well detailed thought out presentation.
Dr Sokolic shared his insights on the topic and emphasized on the importance of exercise and control and management of Sickle Cell Disease in the prevention of blood clots in Sickle Cell patients.
Dr Mohammed also joined in and shared his thoughts on the topic.
Desiree a Sickle Cell Warrior from Belize shared her experience with blood clots. Sandhya a Sickle Cell warrior from Zambia, KW a Sickle Cell warrior from Trinidad and Tobago and Solome from the UK both shared their insights on the topic.
After questions and contributions from the panel, the Doctors answered questions that were raised by the audience. The session ended with closing remarks from Doctor Strouse. Join ASVI this Saturday with an Arabic session.
